Dos and Don’ts of Granite and Quartzite
Granite and Quartzite are pretty similar and both are a fairly easy stone to care for. You can put basically anything on them, does very well with anything hot (such as a pot of boiling water), it really doesn’t scratch easily and rarely stains if it happens to, below are some ways to tackle them as well some tips for your basic everyday cleaning. Granite and Quartzite are wonderful, stress free stones and there is no need to worry about destroying your countertops, we recommend you do follow some of these tips however, to keep it in tip-top shape.
Donts
- Don’t let a spill of oils (including peanut butter), coffee, tea or red wine sit on your Countertops.
- Don’t go more than 6 years without sealing your Granite or Quartzite.
- Don’t clean with tile and bathroom cleaners.
- Don’t expose it to high impact blows.
- Don’t use Windex, Vinegar, Lemon, Clorox Wipes or anything acidic on your countertops.
Dos
- Do seal your countertops every 1-5 years for sanitary purposes.
- Do seal more often if you do it yourself.
- Do disinfect with alcohol if you don’t have sealer.
- Do Wipe off water promptly in case of any watermarks.
