Trend #1: Quartz

Quartz, Quartz and more Quartz. This artificially made material has captured our hearts with all of your favorite countertop qualities in one! You can read all about quartz and how it compares to other countertops on our blog post Which Countertop Material to Use.

Trend #2: White

The white trend is spreading. White is a great color, the way it opens up a space, surprisingly hides dirt and of course is timeless. White goes great with any style, color and layout. It is the perfect go to and only getting more and more popular. Definitely not going away anytime soon!

Trend #3: Matte

Matte or honed material has such a unique finish and people who are looking for something a little out of the ordinary, go for the matte countertops. The favorite color in matte is grey because it creates the desired “concrete” look that is on the rise.

Trend #4: Dark

To contrast with Trend #2, we have a complete opposite trend on the rise. If you so hate the all white look, you may want to give this one a try, Its the dark and mysterious look with blacks, greys, dark greens and well pretty much anything dark and the exact opposite of white. This trend is being labeled “Moody” or “Dramatic”

Trend #5: Terrazzo

This trend is seen in all other trends too! Quartz has so many options for those little specks all different colors even mirrored pieces. You see these in your white countertops, Matt, Dark and really any color that you want. Although, not new it is still making trends lists in 2019 it was huge in 2018 and even before that too. This look was the hottest thing even in the 50s. It all comes back around.

Trend #6: Single Level Island

This year it is all about sleek, clean lines and keeping the details to crazy patterns in wallpaper, floor tiles and backsplashes. So multi-leveled islands, you’re out!

Trend #7: Natural

Natural flow, natural color, natural plants and people too… basically everything appearing natural. This is a very contemporary style, you would find it in a house with floor to ceiling windows. The color scheme is anything earthy and neutral. It is likely that you will find the Trend #8 going right along with this one.

Trend #8: Waterfall

If you haven’t seen these waterfall islands yet, it might not be your “style” but you have to admit they are a great design and very interesting. The waterfall island goes great with these trends: all of them. Right now it is most commonly seen using white quartz, but trends will collide and soon enough we will have Matte concrete waterfall islands and maybe even Terrazzo.

Trend #9: Two Toned Kitchen

This is where the kitchen countertops are all one color and the island is a different color typically but as the picture shows there are various ways of doing two toned kitchens. We have seen a little bit of this in 2018 but 2019 will most likely have much more of it! Right now it is mostly seen with grey and white contrasts but Trend Forecasts can for see more unique mixes.

Trend #10: Large Overhangs

Trends are progressing towards more open spaces and finding creative ways to be company friendly, especially in the kitchen. Around the island long overhangs are great for sliding exciting new bar stools underneath and the bigger the area the more functional. We are moving towards using the island as an entire separate dining table, not just for friday night pizza dinners but fine dining

Trend #11: Veins

In recent years, veins have been a trend but we wanted perfect formation and repetition. Which is a big reason for reaching for quartz as a marble substitute not to mention the durability difference. This year, random natural veins are on the rise. It is natural, unique, dramatic and realistic.

Trend #12: Standard Eased

2019 Loves practical contemporary and a way to fit it into every day lives and everyday styles. Maybe it came to be because their standard and designers ran out of ideas. But the trendy vibes we get say otherwise. This goes right along with the natural, waterfall and large overhang trends also rising this year. But what really might make this Edge big is the sleek look it will give any countertop thickness.
